Updates at Hiawatha will address the building's pressing needs to keep students safe, warm, and dry. Highlights include a new secure entry vestibule to direct all visitors into the office while managing hallway access throughout the day.

The district is reviewing the scope of the entire 2022 bond as we focus on the costs of our major projects and the escalation of inflation and supply costs. During this review, we will be prioritizing health, safety, and student impact as we work to meet as many needs as possible.

Future Project Details

Future updates at Hiawatha include the current playground receiving new equipment and a fence will be added to improve safety and security. The district remains focused on a safe school drop off and pick up at Hiawatha, but the decision on how -or if- to build a second entrance to the school will be on hold for at least two years (no sooner than 2026-27) so the district can assess effectiveness of other interventions and the status of the bond program before moving forward.
